Product Overview
ADS1015IDGSR is a low-power delta-sigma ADC for slower precision sensor measurements where an integrated PGA and I²C interface are more valuable than SAR-level throughput. Four mux inputs can be configured as single-ended or paired differential channels.
The PGA lets low-amplitude bridge/shunt/sensor signals use more of the converter code range, but input voltage must still remain inside the absolute/common-mode constraints even when a high numerical gain/full-scale setting is selected.
The comparator can turn the ALERT/RDY pin into a threshold alarm or conversion-ready signal, allowing simple control without continuous status polling.

Functional Highlights
PGA improves code utilization for small signals
It does not create extra analog input headroom; source/common-mode limits remain tied to the supply/input structure.
I²C plus single-shot power-down suits battery sensors
The converter can wake, perform one settled conversion and return to low-power state without maintaining a continuous sample clock.
Design Considerations
- Choose PGA range from worst-case signal plus offset/overrange margin.
- Account for delta-sigma data rate/filter latency when multiplexing channels.
- Use comparator/ALERT mode deliberately because threshold and conversion-ready behaviors share the pin.
