Product Overview
MCP1700T-3302E/TT is the fixed 3.3 V SOT-23-3 tape-and-reel version of Microchip’s MCP1700 CMOS low-dropout regulator. Its main selection advantage is very low quiescent current combined with modest 250 mA output capability, making it well suited to battery-powered and always-on rails.
The low regulator overhead only helps when the system maintains enough input headroom for regulation. Small-package power dissipation also needs to be checked when the input voltage is substantially above 3.3 V.

Functional Highlights
Very low quiescent current favors standby rails
Microchip specifies 1.6 µA typical quiescent current, so the regulator contributes little current overhead in low-duty-cycle battery systems.
Low dropout extends usable battery range
The low input-to-output differential allows a 3.3 V rail to remain regulated closer to the source’s end-of-discharge voltage than older high-dropout regulators.
Applications / Application Fit
- Battery-operated 3.3 V electronics
- Always-on supervisory and sensor rails
- Low-power embedded nodes with modest load current
Design Considerations
Ensure worst-case VIN remains high enough to regulate 3.3 V after including source tolerance and dropout.
Use the manufacturer-recommended ceramic output capacitor and placement.
Check SOT-23 power dissipation at the actual VIN and current rather than relying only on the 250 mA rating.
