Product Overview
ADM3101EACPZ-REEL is a non-isolated single-channel RS-232 transceiver for systems built around a 3.3 V logic rail. An internal charge pump generates the RS-232 signaling rails from the single low-voltage supply.
The CP-12-4 LFCSP order code is the compact package option in the family. It provides one transmitter and one receiver, operates to 460 kbps, and includes high ESD protection on the interface I/O.

Key Features
- Single 3.3 V supply operation.
- One transmitter and one receiver at up to 460 kbps.
- 0.1 µF external charge-pump capacitors.
- Compact 12-lead LFCSP_WQ package.
Functional Highlights
A 3.3 V supply avoids adding a separate 5 V rail solely for RS-232 level translation.
The charge-pump capacitors form part of the voltage-conversion loop, so close placement reduces parasitic impedance and improves rail generation.
Application Fit
- General-purpose RS-232 data links.
- Industrial and telecommunications diagnostic ports.
- Portable instruments requiring a compact 3.3 V RS-232 interface.
Design Considerations
- Use the CP-12-4 land pattern rather than the 16-lead QSOP footprint.
- Place the 0.1 µF charge-pump capacitors close to the device.
- Confirm that 460 kbps provides adequate cable and timing margin.
