Product Overview
The MP3924GU-Z is an active MPS four-port Power-over-Ethernet power-sourcing-equipment controller. It manages detection, classification, power application and monitoring for four IEEE 802.3af/at PoE source ports and provides an I2C interface for system supervision.
Its exact system role is PSE, meaning it belongs on the side that supplies power onto the Ethernet cable. It should not be classified as a powered-device controller. The device includes a 9-bit ADC for voltage/current monitoring, configurable I2C addressing and both automatic and host-command operating modes.

Design Considerations
A PSE design must account for port power budget, current sensing and isolation/magnetics architecture at the system level. The MP3924 manages the PoE power-control logic, but external pass devices and current paths still need to meet the required per-port power and thermal limits.
I2C telemetry is useful for managed switches, but autonomous operation is also available. Choose the control mode from fault-response and system-management requirements rather than assuming a host processor is mandatory.
