Product Overview
The AD8302ARUZ-REEL is the tape-and-reel TSSOP version of Analog Devices’ integrated gain/loss and phase detector. It accepts two ac-coupled RF or IF inputs from low frequency to 2.7 GHz and provides simultaneous analog outputs representing relative magnitude and phase.
The device measures gain or loss over a ±30 dB range with 30 mV/dB scaling and phase from 0° to 180° with 10 mV/degree scaling. Because both inputs use matched demodulating log amplifiers, the part can compare two signal paths directly or operate in a feedback controller mode for gain/phase adjustment.

Design Considerations
The phase output represents the phase difference between the two limited internal signal paths, so signal amplitude, matching and external path delay should be controlled when absolute accuracy matters. The stated phase and magnitude nonlinearities are typical specifications and should be used with the datasheet error curves for a precision instrument.
The 30 MHz envelope bandwidth is much lower than the RF input frequency. This is intentional: the AD8302 detects relative magnitude and phase of RF/IF carriers rather than digitizing the carrier waveform itself.
