Product Overview
The ADL5501AKSZ-R7 is a compact SC70 true-power detector for RF signal chains from 50 MHz to 6 GHz. It presents a nominal 50 Ω ac-coupled input and produces a linear dc output proportional to rms input voltage, allowing measurement of both simple carriers and complex high-crest-factor modulation.
Its selection advantage is low power and small package size. Analog Devices specifies only 3.3 mW consumption from a 3 V supply, with up to 30 dB input dynamic range and 15 dBm maximum input. At 900 MHz, the output conversion gain is 6.3 V/V rms.

Design Considerations
The 6.3 V/V conversion gain is specified at 900 MHz and should not be treated as frequency invariant. For a multi-band power monitor, use calibration data at the intended carrier frequency to remove RF-path and detector gain variation.
The SC70 package keeps board area and power low, but output filtering still sets the tradeoff between measurement noise and response time. Choose the filter from the modulation envelope the system must average.
