Product Overview
The AD8361ARMZ-REEL7 is an 8-lead MSOP true-rms RF power detector designed for measurement from low frequency to 2.5 GHz. Unlike a logarithmic envelope detector, the AD8361 responds to rms signal power and is therefore intended to measure simple or high-crest-factor modulated waveforms without depending strongly on waveform shape.
The detector provides a linear dc output with 7.5 V/V rms conversion gain. Analog Devices specifies operation from 2.7 V to 5.5 V and highlights low power consumption of 3.3 mW from a 3 V supply, making the part suitable where accurate average-power measurement is needed under a small dc-power budget.

Design Considerations
True-rms response is useful when modulation crest factor varies, but averaging bandwidth still affects what the output represents. Use the external filter capacitor to set the response time so the detector averages the intended modulation while still tracking real power changes.
The maximum input and linearity range are condition-dependent. For signals near the upper limit, preserve the exact frequency, supply and error conditions from the datasheet rather than treating 10 dBm as a universal full-accuracy limit.
