Product Overview
The AD8362ARUZ-REEL7 is the tape-and-reel TSSOP version of Analog Devices’ wide-dynamic-range TruPwr power detector. It measures true rms power from 50 Hz to 3.8 GHz and converts the result to a linear-in-dB output, combining waveform-independent power measurement with a logarithmic-scale interface.
Analog Devices specifies more than 65 dB input dynamic range, from -52 dBm to +8 dBm in a 50 Ω system, with a 50 mV/dB output slope. This makes the AD8362 substantially different from a linear-voltage rms detector: it preserves true-rms response while directly spanning several decades of input power on a dB-scaled output.

Design Considerations
The >65 dB range is a system advantage only when the output ADC and calibration strategy preserve that range. ADC reference, output filtering and noise floor should be selected from the minimum power that must be resolved, not only the maximum input rating.
True-rms detection reduces error caused by waveform crest factor, but external coupling and matching can still introduce frequency-dependent loss. For wideband use, calibrate the complete RF path when absolute power accuracy is required.
