Product Overview
MIC5219-3.3YM5-TR is the fixed 3.3 V SOT-23-5 tape-and-reel version of Microchip’s MIC5219 low-dropout regulator. It combines a compact package, enable control and 500 mA peak-output capability for loads that need a clean 3.3 V rail with startup or transient current demand.
The 500 mA figure is a peak capability, not an automatic guarantee of continuous current in every board layout. Continuous operation is constrained by package dissipation, VIN-to-VOUT difference and ambient conditions.

Functional Highlights
Peak-current capability supports startup transients
The MIC5219 is designed for loads that can demand higher current during startup while sustainable current remains dependent on package and thermal conditions.
Enable control supports rail sequencing
The logic-compatible enable pin allows the 3.3 V rail to be switched without removing the upstream supply.
Applications / Application Fit
- Compact 3.3 V rails with controlled enable
- Battery-powered or portable electronics
- Loads with short startup or transient current demand
Design Considerations
Separate the 500 mA peak rating from thermally sustainable continuous current in SOT-23-5.
Follow the manufacturer capacitor guidance and low-noise recommendations where rail noise matters.
Verify reverse-battery, current-limit and thermal behavior against the actual source and load sequence.
