Device Overview
MP2636GR-Z is the tape-and-reel orderable of the MP2636 single-cell switch-mode battery charger with system power-path management. It supports normal charging when an input source is present and reverse-boost operation from the battery when the system must be powered without the input source.

Engineering Selection Guidance
Use 4.5 to 6.0 V as the design operating VIN range. The 16 V figure describes sustainable input capability and must not be used as the normal recommended input range.
Charge current and reverse-boost output current are separately programmable up to 3.0 A; they belong to different operating modes and should not be treated as one continuous-current rating.
The selectable 4.2 V, 4.3 V and 4.35 V charge targets allow the charger to match different single-cell chemistries, while battery temperature monitoring, timer protection and thermal regulation still set system-level charging constraints.
