Product Overview
LM3409HVMY/NOPB is the 75 V high-voltage version of TI’s PFET buck LED-current controller. It drives an external P-channel MOSFET, so output power/current capability is set by the external switch, inductor, sense resistor and thermal design rather than an integrated power transistor rating.
Constant off-time/current-control architecture avoids a conventional compensated voltage loop and supports very deep PWM dimming. The IADJ input adds analog current adjustment, useful for brightness calibration or thermal foldback.
The HVMY exact code is the 1000-piece small-reel HVSSOP option; HVMYX is the large-reel variant. The HV suffix is electrical, raising VIN capability to 75 V versus the lower-voltage LM3409.

Functional Highlights
External PFET gives power-stage flexibility at high input voltage
The designer can select switch/inductor for the LED current and thermal requirement rather than being limited by an integrated MOSFET.
Deep PWM dimming depends on fast current restart and layout
The quoted dimming ratio assumes appropriate switching frequency/current ripple and clean EN/PWM timing; slow external components can reduce practical low-duty performance.
Design Considerations
- Select PFET voltage/current/SOA with margin for 75 V-class input transients.
- Design sense resistor and inductor for LED ripple/current-limit targets and account for thermal drift.
- HVMY is a small-reel procurement suffix; do not substitute HVMYX solely on text matching without quantity control.
