Product Overview
The HMC194AMS8ETR is the tape-and-reel 8-lead MSOP version of Analog Devices’ HMC194A high-isolation SPDT RF switch. It controls signals from DC to 3 GHz and is optimized for applications that need strong separation between two selectable RF paths.
Its defining system behavior is reflective switching: RF1 and RF2 are open when turned off rather than internally matched to 50 Ω. Analog Devices highlights 50 dB isolation and positive-voltage control compatible with CMOS and most TTL logic families. These traits make the part materially different from absorptive SPDT switches even when the operating band overlaps.

Design Considerations
Reflective off-state ports can interact with filters, amplifiers and resonant networks differently from a terminated switch. Check source and load stability in both switch states rather than assuming the high isolation figure also implies a matched inactive port.
The positive-control operating range gives flexibility in logic interfacing, but the selected control voltage must still meet the exact switching-state thresholds and timing conditions in the datasheet. Preserve the MSOP footprint and RF grounding arrangement when comparing replacements.
