Product Overview
The MCP4013T-202E/CH is the 2.1 kΩ extended-temperature SOT-23-6 ordering variant of Microchip’s MCP4013 volatile digital potentiometer. It provides 64 wiper positions and a simple Up/Down control interface for calibration and set-point functions that do not require nonvolatile storage.
The MCP4013 differs from a fully floating three-terminal potentiometer because terminal B is internally tied to VSS. That connection is an important design constraint: the part is well suited to grounded voltage-divider and trimming functions, but it should not be selected where all three resistor terminals must float independently.

Design Considerations
Because the wiper setting is stored in volatile RAM, the device returns to its defined mid-scale state after power-up. A system that requires a calibrated setting after every restart must therefore restore the desired code through the U/D interface during initialization.
The 2.1 kΩ value is specific to the -202 resistance code. Wiper resistance becomes a larger fraction of the programmed resistance near the low end of the range, so accuracy should be evaluated at the intended code rather than from the nominal end-to-end resistance alone.
