Product Overview

The MP8007GV-Z is the exact tape-and-reel orderable form of MPS’s MP8007 Power-over-Ethernet powered-device controller. It integrates the PoE front end with a 180 V switching MOSFET and supports either a primary-side regulated flyback converter or a low-side buck stage.

MPS specifies support for 13 W PoE applications and compatibility with IEEE 802.3af/at behavior. The device also integrates the PD pass switch, inrush control and multiple protection functions, reducing the number of external high-voltage components required in a compact PoE endpoint.

Design Considerations

The integrated switch simplifies the high-voltage front end, but transformer design, primary current limit and reflected voltage still determine stress in flyback mode. The 180 V MOSFET rating should be checked against worst-case line, leakage-inductance overshoot and snubber performance.

The Z suffix indicates the reel configuration rather than a different electrical die. Keep the exact suffix in procurement records because packaging quantity and logistics can differ even when the electrical device is the same.
