Product Overview
ULN2003AIDR is a seven-channel low-side Darlington driver for relays, lamps, solenoids and small motors. Each channel accepts logic through a 2.7-kΩ base resistor and provides an open-collector-style high-voltage output.
Integrated clamp diodes simplify inductive loads when COM is connected to the appropriate positive load supply. The 500-mA figure applies to a single channel; simultaneous-channel package dissipation can reduce practical current per channel.
The AI suffix is an industrial-temperature grade. That distinguishes it from standard ULN2003A versions even though the channel count and input resistor architecture are the same.

Functional Highlights
Integrated diode clamps reduce relay/solenoid BOM
Seven inductive loads can share the COM clamp connection instead of requiring one flyback diode per external transistor stage.
AI grade extends operating temperature without changing logic interface
Existing 5-V logic designs can retain the familiar ULN2003 input network while gaining the wider temperature rating.
Design Considerations
- Connect COM correctly for inductive clamp operation; leave it application-appropriate for noninductive loads.
- Calculate package dissipation for the number of simultaneous conducting channels.
- Remember Darlington saturation voltage is higher than a modern low-RON MOSFET array.
