Product Overview
DS18B20Z+T&R is the surface-mount tape-and-reel orderable version of the DS18B20 programmable-resolution 1-Wire digital thermometer family, originally from Maxim Integrated and now supported by Analog Devices. Each device provides a unique 64-bit serial code so multiple sensors can share one 1-Wire bus.
The device is attractive when wiring simplicity and digital temperature measurement matter more than very high sampling speed. System design should account for conversion time, bus pull-up behavior, cable length and parasite-power current requirements.

Functional Highlights
Multiple sensors can share a single data line
The unique serial number allows individually addressed devices on the same 1-Wire network, reducing wiring in distributed temperature-sensing applications.
Programmable resolution trades conversion time against granularity
The host can select 9-, 10-, 11- or 12-bit conversion resolution according to response-time and measurement-resolution requirements.
Applications / Application Fit
- Distributed temperature monitoring
- Thermostatic control and thermal protection logic
- Embedded equipment requiring individually addressable digital sensors
Design Considerations
Select the 1-Wire pull-up and bus topology for the actual cable length, number of devices and noise environment.
If parasite power is used, verify that the bus can provide the required strong pull-up during temperature conversion.
Confirm the exact package footprint for the Z orderable variant before PCB release.
