Analog-rich STM32G4 in UFQFPN-48
STM32G431CBU6 is a 170 MHz Cortex-M4 MCU with FPU/DSP, 128 KB of Flash and a 48-pin UFQFPN package. ST lists the exact U6 orderable as industrial grade for -40 °C to +85 °C operation and gives it 42 I/Os.
Its distinguishing feature set is mixed-signal and control oriented: hardware CORDIC and FMAC accelerators, two fast 12-bit ADCs, four DAC channels, three on-chip op amps, four comparators, motor-control timers and FDCAN. Those blocks make the G431CBU6 fundamentally different from a generic 170 MHz MCU description.

Why this G431 package is selection-sensitive
The CB density provides 128 KB of Flash, while the U package puts the device in a low-profile 7 × 7 mm UFQFPN-48 body. ST’s exact product table lists 42 I/Os for U6. That package-level I/O count matters because the analog channels, motor-control PWM, FDCAN, USB and serial interfaces all draw from the same finite pin map.
Mixed-signal resources are the real differentiator
CORDIC can offload trigonometric operations and FMAC can accelerate filter calculations, while the integrated op amps and comparators reduce the need for some external analog signal-conditioning stages. The two ADCs are specified by ST at up to 4 Msps at family level, but channel use and analog supply routing still need to be checked for the exact package and board.
Control-loop and power-conversion fit
This device is particularly well aligned with motor-control and mixed-signal control designs where fast analog acquisition, PWM generation and mathematical acceleration are more valuable than large program memory. Designs dominated by networking or very large firmware may be better served by a different STM32 family.
Analog and digital domains need joint planning
Keep the 1.71 V to 3.6 V supply range, analog-supply requirements and reference strategy visible when assigning ADC, DAC, op-amp and comparator functions. FDCAN still needs an external transceiver, and USB requires the normal connector/ESD implementation. With 42 I/Os in UFQFPN-48, confirm the analog and timer pin map before assuming all headline peripherals can be used at once.
