Product Overview
The BTN8962TAAUMA1 is the exact active OPN for Infineon’s MOTIX BTN8962TA integrated high-current half-bridge. It combines a P-channel high-side MOSFET, an N-channel low-side MOSFET and the driver/protection circuitry in one automotive-qualified package, so it is more than a standalone gate-driver IC.
The integrated architecture removes the need for a charge pump on the high side and provides current-sense diagnostics, slew-rate adjustment, dead-time generation and protection functions. Infineon specifies 6.7 mΩ typical high-side RDS(on), 7.5 mΩ typical low-side RDS(on) and a minimum 30 A overcurrent-detection threshold.

Design Considerations
Motor-current capability is set by thermal conditions and protection thresholds as well as MOSFET resistance. Use the actual PWM duty cycle, load current, ambient temperature and PCB copper area when checking junction temperature rather than interpreting the 30 A overcurrent threshold as a continuous-current rating.
Slew-rate control allows EMI to be traded against switching loss. Faster edges reduce transition loss but increase ringing and emissions; slower edges can improve EMC at the cost of additional heat in the integrated switches.
