Product Overview
The MCP4021-202E/MS is the 2.1 kΩ extended-temperature MSOP-8 variant of Microchip’s 64-step nonvolatile digital potentiometer. Unlike volatile digital-pot families, its EEPROM-backed wiper can recall a stored setting after power cycling.
The 2.1 kΩ option is relatively low resistance, so the 75 Ω typical wiper resistance is a meaningful portion of the programmed value near the low end of the range.

Design Considerations
Keep A, B and W voltages between the supply rails and respect the 2.5 mA terminal-current limit. At low resistance codes, wiper resistance can dominate the effective resistance.
EEPROM writes use more current and have finite endurance. Store settings only when necessary rather than continuously mirroring every adjustment.
