Product Overview
IR3840MTRPBF is the tape-and-reel orderable of the IR3840 SupIRBuck synchronous step-down regulator. The device integrates high-side and low-side MOSFETs with PWM control, programmable switching frequency, soft-start, current limiting, Power Good and hiccup protection for high-current point-of-load conversion.
The part is a 12 A-class integrated regulator, but practical current depends strongly on PCB copper and exposed-pad thermal design. The 5 mm × 6 mm Power QFN should be laid out from the manufacturer land pattern rather than treated as a generic QFN.

Design Considerations
High-current switch-node, input-capacitor and PGND paths should be minimized to control ringing and EMI. The exposed pad requires a dense thermal-via structure into internal or backside copper.
Switching frequency directly trades magnetic size against switching loss. Inductor value, compensation and output capacitance should be designed at the chosen frequency rather than copied from another SupIRBuck device.
