Product Overview
The MCP2221A-I/ST is the industrial-temperature 14-lead TSSOP version of Microchip’s MCP2221A USB-to-I2C/UART bridge. It provides the same protocol-conversion engine as the QFN version while using a leaded package that can be easier to inspect, prototype and rework.
The ST suffix identifies the 4.4 mm-body TSSOP. UART operation extends from 300 to 460800 baud and I2C host operation reaches 400 kHz. Four GP pins can be configured for GPIO or supported alternate functions, giving the device additional host-controlled utility beyond serial bridging.

Design Considerations
The TSSOP package is physically and electrically packaged differently from the 16-lead QFN ML version. Preserve the exact footprint and pin mapping when moving between package options even though the bridge function is shared.
For high-volume automated assembly where reel packaging is required, the MCP2221AT form is the catalog T&R option. The non-T MCP2221A-I/ST is the standard package-order form.
