Product Overview
The LAN9730I-ABZJ is Microchip’s industrial-temperature HSIC USB 2.0 to 10/100 Ethernet controller. Unlike a conventional external USB transceiver bridge, the LAN9730 uses the High-Speed Inter-Chip USB interface for direct connection between ICs on the same board while integrating the Ethernet MAC and PHY.
The I-ABZJ order code identifies the -40°C to +85°C industrial version in a 56-pin QFN tray package. The HSIC interface is the main architectural selection point: this device is intended for embedded inter-chip USB connectivity rather than a standard external USB connector PHY path.

Design Considerations
HSIC routing rules differ from conventional USB D+/D− routing because the interface is designed for short inter-chip connections. Preserve the HSIC timing, impedance and routing guidance instead of treating it like an external USB cable interface.
The integrated Ethernet PHY still needs the appropriate magnetics and connector network. Power sequencing and the internal-versus-external core-regulator choice should also follow the exact LAN9730 power-connection guidance.
