Product Overview
The AD8318ACPZ-REEL7 is the tape-and-reel 16-lead LFCSP implementation of Analog Devices’ wide-dynamic-range logarithmic detector/controller. It maintains accurate log conformance from 1 MHz to 6 GHz and remains useful to 8 GHz, supporting RF power measurement and closed-loop amplifier control.
Compared with the smaller AD8317, the AD8318 emphasizes wider high-accuracy dynamic range and includes a temperature-sensor output. Analog Devices specifies a typical 60 dB input range with less than ±1 dB error in the documented operating region and a 2 mV/°C temperature-sensor slope, which can support additional system monitoring or calibration.

Design Considerations
The temperature-sensor output provides a way to monitor local device temperature, but it does not automatically compensate the RF measurement. If tighter accuracy is required, use the detector’s frequency/temperature calibration behavior together with the temperature signal in the system calibration strategy.
The AD8318’s 68 mA current is significantly higher than many lower-frequency detectors. That power budget and the 4 × 4 mm exposed-pad package should be included in thermal design, especially when the detector is continuously enabled in a sealed RF module.
