Product Overview
LM211DR is a classic single high-speed comparator with a strobe function and a more flexible output stage than simple open-collector dual/quad comparators. The separate output transistor connections can support unusual level-shifting and wired configurations.
The 165 ns response class is much faster than standard LM393/LM339-style comparators, making LM211 suitable for zero-crossing, oscillators and timing detection where microsecond-class devices are too slow.
Its exact DR order code is the industrial-temperature SOIC-8 large-reel version. It is not an automotive or military-temperature variant.

Functional Highlights
Strobe input can disable or gate comparator response
This supports sampled or synchronized threshold detection without adding a separate downstream logic gate.
Flexible output transistor enables nonstandard logic interfacing
Collector/emitter accessibility can simplify level translation or custom pull-up/pull-down arrangements when used within ratings.
Design Considerations
- Design output pull-up/load around the required switching speed and voltage.
- Account for overdrive-dependent propagation delay in timing-critical thresholds.
- Keep fast comparator input/output routing separated to prevent oscillation from positive feedback through parasitics.
