Product Overview
The HMC311SC70ETR is the tape-and-reel SC70 implementation of Analog Devices’ HMC311SC70 gain-block MMIC. It provides approximately 15 dB gain from DC to 8 GHz using a GaAs InGaP HBT Darlington topology and can serve as a compact 50 Ω cascaded gain stage or as an LO driver.
Its main selection advantage is bandwidth in a very small package. The device offers +15 dBm output P1dB and +30 dBm output IP3 while drawing 54 mA from a +5 V supply, making it appropriate when moderate gain is needed across a much wider frequency span than typical SOT-89 gain blocks.

Design Considerations
The wide DC-to-8-GHz operating claim does not mean gain, match and linearity are constant across the full range. Use the S-parameter and large-signal curves at the intended band, especially for multi-gigahertz LO-drive applications.
The SC70 package reduces board area but also limits heat-spreading area compared with SOT-89. Maintain the recommended grounding and board layout so bias stability and thermal behavior remain consistent.
