Product Overview
The CD4021BM96 is TI’s active SOIC-16 tape-and-reel orderable for the CD4021B 8-stage static shift register. It supports asynchronous parallel loading and serial shifting for input expansion and parallel-to-serial conversion.
The asynchronous parallel-load behavior distinguishes CD4021B from related shift registers. Firmware timing should reflect that control method rather than assuming all parallel-in CMOS shift registers load on a clock edge.

Design Considerations
Tie control inputs to defined levels when unused. Because the register is static, data retention does not require a minimum clock frequency.
Clock and parallel-load timing depend on supply voltage, so use the datasheet limits at the actual VDD.
