Product Overview
The MCP2221AT-I/ML is the tape-and-reel QFN ordering version of Microchip’s MCP2221A USB-to-I2C/UART bridge. Electrically it belongs to the MCP2221A family, but the T in MCP2221AT is the catalog identifier for tape-and-reel supply.
The ML package is the 16-lead 4 × 4 mm QFN and the I grade covers -40°C to +85°C. The converter supports UART to 460800 baud, I2C/SMBus host operation to 400 kHz and configurable GP pins for host-controlled GPIO or alternate functions.

Design Considerations
The T suffix does not indicate a different protocol engine or higher electrical rating; it identifies the tape-and-reel catalog order form. This distinction matters in procurement and automated assembly but should not be turned into a false functional difference.
Use the QFN land pattern and exposed-pad guidance for the ML package. A design based on the 14-lead TSSOP version needs a PCB change even though the USB/I2C/UART feature set is shared.
