Product Overview

The SH90 is a Littelfuse surface-mount gas discharge tube with a 90 V typical DC breakdown rating. The exact SH90 row specifies a 72 V minimum and 108 V maximum static breakdown window, while the dynamic breakdown limit rises to 600 V at 100 V/µs and 700 V at 1000 V/µs.

The SH series is designed as a low-capacitance surge-protection family. In the datasheet table, SH75 and SH90 share the 1 GΩ insulation-resistance and 0.7 pF capacitance grouping. These shared values are useful for evaluating signal loading, while the 90 V exact-row breakdown values determine the voltage coordination for SH90.

Design Considerations

Use the 72–108 V DC breakdown window to ensure the GDT does not fire during the highest legitimate line voltage. For fast surges, coordinate the downstream circuit against the 600–700 V impulse-breakdown limits rather than assuming clamping begins near 90 V.

The shared SH75/SH90 capacitance and insulation values come from a grouped datasheet table, not a separately measured unique SH90 line item. Preserve that distinction when comparing the device against another exact GDT model.
