Product Overview
SN74LV595APWR retains the familiar 595 serial-to-parallel interface but adds modern partial-power-down behavior. Ioff prevents powered external signals from back-driving the device when VCC is off, which is useful in multi-rail or hot-plug systems.
The LV family operates to 5.5 V rather than the HC family’s 6 V ceiling and is optimized for modern lower-voltage logic. Mixed-mode port support and faster stated timing can make it a better fit for current embedded systems while preserving the 595 programming model.
PWR is the leaded TSSOP reel implementation; firmware can often preserve its shift/latch sequence while the electrical power-sequencing assumptions change from HC595.

Functional Highlights
Ioff solves a system problem that classic HC595 does not target
When the host or loads remain powered during a local VCC-off state, back-drive current can cause phantom power or damage. LV595A explicitly supports partial-power-down protection.
Same “595” logic model does not mean identical electrical limits
Supply range, input thresholds, timing and power-off behavior differ from HC595, so a family migration should verify the real voltage domains even if firmware is unchanged.

- Map every possible power sequence to ensure Ioff/logic limits are respected.
