Product Overview
LDC1612DNTR converts the resonant frequency of two LC sensor channels into high-resolution digital measurements for contactless inductive sensing. Unlike a conventional voltage ADC, its measurement variable is the sensor resonance, so coil geometry, target material, distance and reference clock quality directly shape system resolution.
The two channels can be used for independent targets or for environmental/aging compensation. A remote coil can be separated from the converter, which helps place sensing elements in harsh mechanical areas while keeping the IC on a protected PCB.
The DNT order code is the active 4 mm-class WSON reel option. Its exposed-pad/leadless assembly and analog sensor routing require tighter PCB process control than a leaded package.

Functional Highlights
28-bit output does not equal 28 bits of mechanical accuracy
Resolution depends on sensor Q, frequency, target coupling, reference-clock quality and conversion time. The large digital code width is useful only when the LC sensor and mechanical system are stable enough to support it.
Multiple channels can cancel drift instead of only adding more sensors
A reference channel can track temperature, component aging or mechanical background so firmware can distinguish target movement from common environmental changes.
Design Considerations
- Design the LC tank from the actual target distance/material and keep sensor routing away from noisy digital clocks.
- Use an external reference clock when measurement stability requires better clock performance than the internal oscillator.
- Treat WSON exposed-pad assembly, grounding and solder process as part of the sensor-noise design.
