Product Overview
INA168NA/3K extends the low-power INA138 architecture to a 60 V recommended supply and common-mode range. The amplifier converts shunt voltage to output current with approximately 200 µA/V transconductance, and RL then determines the voltage gain seen by the next stage.
The key design freedom is also the key design constraint: RL affects output amplitude, output headroom and bandwidth. A large resistor can produce the desired nominal gain on paper while causing saturation or insufficient transient response in the real bus-voltage range.
For purchasing, the /3K suffix identifies the 3000-piece large tape-and-reel SOT-23-5 option.

Functional Highlights
60 V high-side measurement is independent of the logic/monitor supply rail
The measured bus and the V+ pin can be different voltages. This is useful when a low-voltage controller monitors a substantially higher power rail.
Gain is a system relationship, not a fixed IC number
The transfer includes RS and RL. Full-scale current, shunt dissipation, ADC range and required bandwidth therefore need to be solved together.
Design Considerations
- Select RS for acceptable power loss and full-scale VSENSE before choosing RL.
- Check calculated VOUT against output compliance across the minimum V+ and VIN− conditions.
- Use Kelvin shunt routing and minimize resistance between the shunt and input pins.
