TDC7200PWR measures elapsed time between a START edge and up to five STOP edges, making it a digital timing front end for ultrasonic flow, LIDAR/SONAR and position systems rather than a voltage ADC. Two measurement modes cover short nanosecond intervals through millisecond-scale time of flight.
The 55 ps resolution headline must be distinguished from complete system distance accuracy. Comparator threshold variation, transducer/laser pulse shape, analog front-end delay, reference-clock stability and calibration can dominate the final ToF error even when the TDC quantization is much finer.
